When checking motorcycle oil, should the motorcycle be straight or on its stand? in order for a true measuring

I am not sure for all makes but I do know that the bike should be held straight up for Hondas. When checking motorcycle oil, should the motorcycle be straight or on its stand? in order for a true measuring
Check the manual, the manufacturer doesnt expect you to balance the bike if it only has a kickstand but if it has the type of stand that allows the bike to sit at a perfect 90 degree angle they may tell you to use it when checking the oilWhen checking motorcycle oil, should the motorcycle be straight or on its stand? in order for a true measuring
when checking the oil the motor cycle should be on its center stand and on level ground.
Um, well...on my Voyager it's kinda like impossible to stand astraddle the bike and see the sight glass, so I always center stand it. On Harleys, I don't know, since they don't have center stands, I would imagine stand it up straight and pull the dipstick in the oil tank cap. K ;o)
straight and balanced. not on the stand.

even if it has a side stand it's not hard to balance the bike and look at the sight glass.
It should be straight and be on level ground. You can put it on the big center stand (it sits straight on that stand), if it has one, but not the kick stand.
