Substitute for motorcycle oil filter wrench?

Is there a safe way to remove the filter without having to buy a specific (expensive) tool? Thanks.Substitute for motorcycle oil filter wrench?
The belt off your waist. %26lt; FREE

I have metal ';belt'; that works with all the cars except for my GF ford truck.

I also have a fram oil remover, which can be attached to the socket set.

Last option: stick a screw driver in give it a quick turn to loosen.Substitute for motorcycle oil filter wrench?
I've used lots of substitutes in the past.

I finally broke down and bought the HD filter wrench for mine.

A standard one didn't fit well, and it was hairy close to the crank sensor (which I do not want to replace).

The special one with the cut-out saved me enough aggravation to be worth the price.

Yeah, this cheapskate says it's worth the dealership price.

If you plan on working on anything, having the proper tools helps greatly. If / as you get deeper into it and do more, you will find yourself buying specialty tools.
$10 is not expensive for a special tool.

The shop that sold you the filter, should also sell filter wrenches.

Any auto parts store will sell them.

I have 7 different filter wrenches.

This one will remove anything, even damaged filters -

It would be easy to make one, if you're that strapped for cash (pardon the pun).
don't go poking holes in it and run oil all over the place.... get a big set of channel-lock pliers, and put a rag between the teeth and the o/f.. grab it on the end and twist but don't use enough force to mangle the filter. if that doesn't work you could use a ';strap'; style o/f wrench; its not very expensive and can be used on almost anything with a stuck filter. hope that helps...

I've used strap wrenches, cups, pliers, chain tongs, pipe wrenches, etc.

This wrench paid for itself the first time I used it. Big Bike Parts sells it.

This one fits the filter I use on three different Hondas.
Strap tools work, you can get a cheap plastic filter socket, you can grab and twist by hand, or a combination of the above. I have even poked the dreaded holes and got it off, its just messy, but it does work.
No, get the tool. I've tried a strap wrench, they work great if you have the room. Don't work at all if you don't. A oil filter wrench, don't cost much and will save your fingers and a lot of cursing.
Go buy the right tool - Respect your bike and buy the wrench that fits.Something that '' might '' fit will usually break something else.
i used a rachet strap one time to change mine.worked great.
