Is there anywhere besides a dealership where I can buy motorcycle oil?

Wallmart , wallgreens, any auto parts store, or even a bike shop if you want oil made for a motorcycle (I don't want to explain the difference in oil). I would try a bike shop cuz they may even have your oil filter in stock.Is there anywhere besides a dealership where I can buy motorcycle oil?

If you live in an area that has either Checker, Schuck's or Kragen auto parts, check there. That's where I buy Valvoline motorcycle oil. They also carry the oil filter for my bike.
Motorcycle oils can be picked up at most Auto part stores. so no need for that trip to the dealer for their inflated prices on the same products. just take an old bottle in with you.
Motorcycles normally require one of two types of oil weight: 10W40 or 20W50.


There is really no such thing as a 10W40 or 20W50 specifically ';made'; for motorcycles although some manufactures will try to market a difference by stating they have ';special'; additives. (In economics, this is called monopolistic competition. It isn't a real monopoly, but an attempt to create one through marketing.) However, these additives do not alter the main function of the oil which is lubrication. Furthermore, oil for cars are under much stricter/higher standards due to manufacturing competion and Federal guidelines. Thus its possible that the standard 10W40 or 20W50 is marginally better than the one that says ';made for your motorcycle';.


In any case, you can find 10W40 and 20W50 oil in most automotive centers at Target, Wal-mart, K-Mart, Napa, etc...

sure, wall mart, auto zone, etc or, I order mine online by the case direct from distributors ( I use Amsoil brand) . Or you can order from catalogs too
any oil as long as where the rating is it does not say energy conserving... do not use that type unless you have a bike with a dry clutch or a clutch that get its lubrication from a source other then the oil that goes to the rest of the motor
that would depend on the engine .cc`s and the manuf. specs. id suggest a good non detergent 50 weight for the older pan shovel harleys for the rice grinders id use a good 10 w 20 or 30 there is no diffrence between motor cycle oil and automotive oil.

You can probably find it at the supermarket.


Some makers will try to sell you their name brand oil - (expensive BS.)


If it's '10-40 SE`, it's '10-40 SE` and the name makes no diff. DO get the grade and letters right though.
